The first new column will be published on Friday, February 10, on Cinema Crazed.

Film NEWS: -- With Thanksgiving on the near horizon, FilmSnobbery decided to serve up another type of turkey: in this case, the cinematic variety, with a seasonal celebration of the worst films of all time. And in a survey of approximately 100 filmmakers, critics, historians and performers, the choice for the worst film of all time went to Tommy Wiseau's utterly astonishing 2003 production "The Room."

MOVIE NEWS: Cameron Baxter Films has announced the premiere of their film "Seeds of Freedom: A Vision for America" which is the inaugural event for the James Phinney Baxter Lecture Series at the Boston Public Library on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Central Library in Copley Square. The film is written, directed, and produced by Andrew Cameron Bailey and Connie Baxter Marlow.

FILM AND VIDEO NEWS: (RUSKIN, Fla.) Dream Merchants Entertainment LLC announces production of the 140 minute feature film, 'The Kamasutra Garden,' which takes viewers on a journey to a brothel in Nevada where the girls earn their money by pleasuring men using the Kamasutra techniques. The feature film is based on the acclaimed novel by Riju R. Sam.

FILM AND VIDEO NEWS: (LOS ANGELES, Calif.) After directing over a dozen short films, French filmmaker Tristan Convert announced he has directed his first feature, 'SCRATCH,' an original horror comedy starring Daniele Watts ('Django Unchained'), for which he has launched an Indiegogo campaign, to reach $10K for finishing funds. Set in Los Angeles's known-to-be haunted Old Zoo, 'SCRATCH' is one of the first, if not the first, found footage films shot entirely on an Apple iPhone 6.

MOVIE NEWS: (HOLLYYWOOD, Calif.) Actor Massi Furlan takes on the role of Anthony Servidone opposite Ben Affleck in 'Live by Night' a 1920's prohibition-era American crime film written and directed by Affleck and produced by Leonardo DiCaprio. The film is based on the novel by Dennis Lehane, is being distributed by Warner Bros and slated to hit the theaters in 2017.

FILM NEWS: (FORT WORTH, Texas) A film documentary commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Texas Boys Choir screened Feb. 18 during a special ceremony at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The documentary - literally seven decades in the making - explores the vast and rich history and legacy of the boys choir. It is written and directed by Gary McGrath, a TBC alum who also is executive director of The Texas State Men and Boys Choir.

FILM & VIDEO NEWS: (LOS ANGELES, Calif.) Coverage Ink Films, producers of the animated horror thriller "Malevolent" have launched an IndieGogo campaign during Feb/March 2016: the goal is to reach $45K for finishing funds to get the movie completed. "Malevolent" combines horror and sci-fi into an original, time-twisting concoction. The producers describe the movie as "SAW meets Groundhog Day.

REVIEW: While it didn't convert me to atheism, 'The God Delusion' (ISBN: 9780618918249) by Richard Dawkins is still terrific and should be required reading for anyone who still thinks religion has any value in society. Dawkins' philosophical points are even persuasive, up to a point, but I cannot join him in his non-belief.

REVIEW: A beautifully crafted book on a mesmerizing but ugly topic, "Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, & the Prison of Belief" by Lawrence Wright (ISBN: 9780307745309) is a shocking investigation into the cult of Scientology. As with today's torture-porn horror films, its followers are berated, degraded, and psychologically harmed.

REVIEW: The fundamental principles of the United States were honored and extended by Frances Perkins, who was "The Woman Behind the New Deal: The Life and Legacy of Frances Perkins - Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, and the Minimum Wage" (ISBN: 9781400078561).
