BOULDER, Colo. /Publishers Newswire/ — A new book, “Children of the Realm: A Fledglings Novel” (ISBN: 978-1456748319; AuthorHouse Publishing; paperback), is the first novel by author W.L. James. According to the author, her fantasy/SF tale “paints a fun, sassy and edgy story that depicts a realistic representation into the lives of today’s youth.” The author will be making a series of appearances in Boulder and around the Denver Metro Area this fall.

About the Book:
Meet Boulder’s newest paranormals. Peter, Alexandra, Rudy and Theroux are not your average middle schoolers. They are fledglings. The children of immortal warriors called Centurions fighting against a common enemy called the Horde. Living among humans in the small picturesque city of Boulder Colorado nestled beneath the Flat Irons, they study and train to one day become Centurions themselves to protect humans and paranormals alike.

In the story, Ashley Morgan has known the fledglings all her life. Right before her fourteenth birthday, however, she discovers her friends are not who or what she’d always believed them to be and neither is she.

The question: Will her friends stand with or against her when they discover her true identity? The fledglings and Ashley must learn to trust one another and work together if they are to survive their coming confrontations with the Horde.

This is the first novel penned by W.L. James.

About the Author:
James grew up in Louisiana, where there was never a shortage of characters and events to inspire a writer of fantasy. She now resides in Boulder County, Colorado with her husband, two teenage children and the family cat Boots.
